Naming and Welcoming Ceremonies

Welcoming new arrivals and celebrating families

A Welcoming and Naming Ceremony is a special moment where we mark the arrival of a new family member, whether through birth, adoption or marriage. They are also powerful moments for people looking to the future with a new name or following gender transition. Whatever your story, I'm here to help you put together a ceremony that is truly reflective of you and your family.

We start by having a free 30 minute meeting - in person, online or over the phone - where we get to know each other and talk about what you want from your ceremony.

Is this a christening or baptism?

Naming and Welcoming Ceremonies can look similar to a Christening or Baptism, if you'd like them to. They all welcome people and make promises and commitments for their future. The difference by working with me is that everything in this ceremony will be personally chosen by you to fully reflect your family.

What is an adult naming and welcoming ceremony?

There are many moments in life when we as adults want to assert our identity or take on a new name: reclaiming or finding a new name following divorce or widowhood; laying to rest a past name and asserting a true name during gender transition. These ceremonies can look and feel however best reflects who you are and your hopes for your future.

Where can we hold our Naming and Welcoming Ceremony?

Anywhere you like! There are no rules - so wherever you feel comfortable and wherever suits you, your family and guests. It might be your back garden, the beach, the local theatre, a meadow - wherever is meaningful to you.

How far in advance should I book you?

It's best for us to start speaking three to twelve months before your ceremony, so that together we can create your best possible day.

I don't live in Bath, Bristol or the South West. Can I still work with you?

Yes, absolutely! Our initial consultations will take place online and can be tailored to any location or timezone. Travel beyond a 40 miles radius from Bath will incur additional travel costs.
