I'm naomi, and here's my story...
It feels as though becoming a celebrant is where my life has always been leading.
I come from a family filled with generations of priests, poets and actors and so notions of ritual, ceremony, words and performance are ingrained in who I am. From a childhood of singing in church choirs, to those wedding-crazy summers and baby-filled years, to those unbearable moments of loss and grief, I have attended hundreds of ceremonies in my life and have seen examples that have been profound, moving and full of meaning...and sadly others that have been empty, soulless and not what the couple or family really wanted.
Outside of being a celebrant, I have spent 15 years working in public-facing roles in arts and heritage organisations where I've been able to hone my expertise in relationship management, event creation and delivery and speaking from the heart. I also love being on stage, watching films and theatre and absorbing poetry. All these ingredients feed directly into my celebrant and ceremony practice.
Raised religious and now identifying as spiritually open, ritual and ceremony have always been incredibly important, whether small moments marked by a few or large moments celebrated by many.
It felt natural that, for my own wedding to my husband, I wrote and curated our own symbolic ceremony, delivered by friends and family, which completely summed up and celebrated who we are and how we want our marriage to be. I love helping others to think differently about their options – and am hugely excited to now be in this space where I can extend this love and help to many many others!
I can't wait to meet you.
With love, Naomi
